HHCI has no strict shift structure, unlike a hospital or facility setting. Our work is per-diem, so you have better control over your work hours! You can choose assignments that accommodate your other obligations, preferences, and skill level. HHCI offers both adult and pediatric cases with a range of medical requirements.
In addition to the training during orientation, HHCI will provide training by an RN for aides, shadow training to nurses for a specific case, and arrange training for those giving staff relief, if needed. We also offer classes to support our professionals and paraprofessionals in continuing their education, which includes CPR, Vent Training, and more. In addition, home care gives caregivers autonomy and independence while exposing them to a diverse range of clinical scenarios. Because you will be working in a non-traditional setting, you will develop an extra level of critical thinking.

Private Duty Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse – A private-duty LPN or RN works under the supervision of the Director of Patient Services. RNs/LPNs are responsible for the complete care of all assigned patients within the scope of the State Board of Nursing, as well as the policies and procedures of the agency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing clinical progress notes, reporting changes in the client’s condition, and providing care.
Home Infusion Registered Nurse – A Home Infusion RN works under the supervision of the Director of Patient Services. In addition to the responsibilities of a private duty nurse, Infusion RNs are expected to initiate and maintain IV access, safely and accurately administer meds, including IV products, and may perform phlebotomy procedures when necessary.
Assessment Registered Nurse – An Assessment RN works under the supervision of the Director of Patient Services. They are responsible for the initial and re-assessing of all traditional services and nursing patients. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to entering the assessments into the system, making emergency visits to the patient’s home, maintaining MD and interim orders, and creating an initial care plan for patients.
Home Health Aide/Personal Care Aide – HHA/PCA works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. PCAs/HHAs perform various services for the patient, primarily personal care and daily living activities, to promote quality care and a safe environment in the patient’s home. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the patient in maintaining good personal hygiene, rehabilitation including safe transfer techniques, walkers, and Hoyer lift, and assistance with ADLs and IALs. Aides support the patient in becoming as independent as possible according to the plan of care.
Other Licensed Professionals – Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers, and Speech Language Pathologist work under the supervision of the Director of Patient Services. The responsibilities of these professionals include but are not limited to the initial and interim assessments and evaluation of the patient, development of treatment plans, and timely recording of evaluation data, treatments, and patient’s response to therapy interventions.

We supply temporary staff to numerous Group Homes across NYC and Westchester County, ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations of the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). In essence, HHCI operates as a Staffing Agency for group homes or Residences catering to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses. Whenever a permanent or temporary shift opens, HHCI coordinates for staff members to fill in. Given caregivers’ direct contact with individuals overseen by OPWDD, all caregivers must undergo a comprehensive 4-step background check.
DSPs operate within a group home environment, aiding residents to achieve maximum independence. Duties may include basic cooking, cleaning, assistance with personal hygiene, and other tasks as needed. As part of our Staff Relief team, you are expected to adhere to directives from the House Administration. Assignments within the Residences are solely determined by protocol and not influenced by Hope.
Nurses working in a group home setting will work alongside the House Administration to complete tasks including, but not limited to, medication administration without error, nursing interventions and their documentation, developing treatment plans, participating in staff training, preparing clinical and administrative reports, maintaining infection control, and more.
